Innovative Approaches Generate Exciting Opportunities

In 2006, JOGMEC addressed the needs of Japanese companies and provided assistance for asset acquisition, project operation, and monetization of natural gas reserves, while intensively supporting their activities to acquire oil and gas interests in Eastern Siberia, Sakhalin, Iraq and Libya. We collected and analyzed financial and technological information to support evaluation and due diligence in connection with bidding on new exploration blocks around Sakhalin. Other activities included helping Japanese companies acquire exploration and mining rights in Libya in ways such as studies of Libya's exploration and production potential.

In addition, JOGMEC conducted discussions with overseas state-owned oil companies and officials from related government agencies to ensure that Japanese companies receive information on the availability of new rights. We concluded a comprehensive agreement on research and development with Brazil's Petrobras. We also participated in conferences held in Moscow, Jakarta, Manila and other cities around the world to enhance relationships and JOGMEC's international presence.
