Support for Application of New Technologies and Technical Studies

JOGMEC encourages Japanese oil and natural gas companies in applying new technologies to their exploration and production activities by providing financial and technical support through a joint study program with the companies.

One of the main goals of JOGMEC's R&D activities is application of its technologies and expertise to exploration and production activities conducted by Japanese oil and natural gas companies. As recent exploration targets more difficult areas and reservoirs and as optimizing production requires sophisticated technologies, JOGMEC tackles several technical challenges under the joint study program together with Japanese oil and natural gas companies. JOGMEC's experts participate in the study and its lab systems are fully utilized. Recent study themes include highly accurate depth structure mapping, new exploration technologies for hydrocarbon detections, and offshore gas field development using FPSO. The experience and knowledge obtained from these studies becomes a foundation of further technology development by JOGMEC and the outcome is also disseminated to the industry to enhance their technical capabilities.
