Execution of MOU with Thailand’s PTTEP
For Joint Studies in New Technology Development to Enhance Productivity
Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC, Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Mr. keisuke Kuroki) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP, a subsidiary of PTT: Bangkok, Thailand, President and Chief Executive Officer: Mr. Somporn Vongvuthipornchai) on March 8, 2017 for collaboration on developing new technologies to enhance oil/gas development and production efficiency.
JOGMEC has been strengthening its relationships with oil producing countries by developing new technologies and proposing solutions to address different technical challenges faced by National Oil Companies as well as International Oil Companies through technical solutions projects and working together with Japanese companies since 2013.
For PTTEP, improving efficiency in the development and production of PTTEP’s owned and operated oil/gas fields is an important company agenda. To achieve this, they have agreed to conduct joint studies with JOGMEC, aiming to make use of Japanese most advanced technologies. In particular, PTTEP is interested in technology development in the area of reservoir monitoring, which would speed up development and enhance field production.
JOGMEC, based on the MOU, intends to progress technology development in reservoir monitoring by conducting field tests at PTTEP operated oil/gas fields, aiming at eventually applying such advanced technologies to other oil producing regions important for Japan’s national security.
