JOGMEC and the Province of Alberta, Canada sign a Memorandum of Understanding

 On April 25, 2017, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) and the Province of Alberta, Canada, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation in the field of oil and gas.
 On the occasion of the official visit of Premier Rachel Notley, the Province of Alberta, JOGMEC and the Province of Alberta signed MOU for mutual cooperation in the field of oil and gas.
 The Province of Alberta is known for its abundant natural resources. Especially regarding oil sands, the Provinve of Alberta holds one of the largest reserves in the world. JOGMEC has conducted "Pilot plant test of Supercritical Water Cracking (SCWC) technology" in Alberta. SCWC technology refers to the technology which enables easy handling of oil sands and extra heavy oil.
 Based on this MOU, JOGMEC and the Province of Alberta promote mutual cooperation in the field of oil and gas development, especially by exchanging information for unlocking extra heavy oil in Alberta.
