The 21th Coal Investment Promotion Seminar

Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) held the 21th Coal Investment Promotion Seminar on April 26th, 2018, inviting Aurizon as a speaker who visited Japan .
In order to further secure a stable supply of coal resources, JOGMEC invites government officials of coal producing countries and executive officers of coal-related companies to present at ‘Coal Investment Promotion Seminars’ to provide information on coal policies and development of coal related projects in these countries.

This time, as part of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the State of Queensland, Australia and JOGMEC, we invited Mr. Andrew Harding, Managing Director & CEO, Aurizon, which is the largest rail company in Australia to be the keynote speaker at this seminar. He gave an informative presentation titled “Australian Coal Supply, Performance & Investment”, touching on Aurizon's role in the supply chain in Australia, investment strategy to support coal supply growth and outlook for coal market.

During Q&A session, questions from participants are focused on the impact of “QCA UT5 Draft Decision” issue on coal supply to Japan which Aurizon are now discussing with the state authority.
The seminar was attended by over 70 attendees from steelmaking companies, trading companies, power companies and so on.
