Launch of the LNG Value Chain Training Program
- Toward the expansion of LNG market in Asia -
Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) is pleased to announce the launch of the LNG Value Chain Training Program. This program will be held reflecting the statement of H.E. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan during the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2017 held in Tokyo last October that Japan will contribute to expanding the LNG market in Asia through financing and capacity building.
H.E. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan stated that Japan will contribute to expanding the LNG market in Asia, focusing mainly on the following two efforts: 1) Japanese public and private organizations will arrange finance in the scale of ten billion US dollars aiming at boosting demand for LNG in Asia; and 2) providing opportunities of capacity building 500 personnel over the coming five years. This program has been launched reflecting a part of above effort, and has invited senior officials from 9 Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam).

Each program will be held for a period of two weeks and will consist of an introductory session and a practical business session on LNG value chain and LNG receiving engineering. The introductory session will cover subjects including the commercial aspects of LNG value chain business and general information on the technical aspects of regasification (include FSRU). The practical business session will consist of subjects such as project finance, contracts, relevant parts of the legal system of Japan, project management, etc. These subjects will be leant through lectures and site visits. Most notably, the program will include visits to LNG receiving terminals and related energy facilities in Japan.
JOGMEC’s hope is that this program will play an important role in promoting and deepening strong relationships between Japan and other Asian countries which will further utilize LNG.
