On November 12, 2024 the American news magazine TIME revealed the second annual TIME100 Climate list, featuring the 100 most influential leaders driving business to real climate action. Mr. MORI Hiroyuki, Executive Vice President, Member of the Board of Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) has been selected as one of the leaders.
The selection was made in recognition of JOGMEC's leading action for CLEAN Initiative that promotes cooperation among the LNG producers and buyers for pursuing cleaner LNG supply chain by enhancing visibility of methane emissions.

The CLEAN (Coalition for LNG Emission Abatement toward Net-zero) Initiative was launched by JOGMEC together with JERA of Japan and KOGAS of Korea at the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2023 with the aim of reducing methane emissions and ensuring transparency of methane emissions and abatement efforts in the LNG value chain. The Initiative started with those three parties, has been rapidly expanding. At the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2024 held in Hiroshima in this October, 22 additional members have joined. At the Conference, the CLEAN Annual Report 2024 (Note) also has been launched by JOGMEC, that introduces the world's first project-level methane emissions and reduction efforts as the best practices based on the results of surveys on the methane emission reduction conducted by JERA and KOGAS to their contracted LNG producers.
In addition to widely introducing advanced methane emission reduction efforts by producers, JOGMEC will provide useful information for enhancing methane emission visibility for consumers to pursue clean LNG, thereby making clean LNG competitive. As a result, JOGMEC will strengthen activities that contribute to the cleanness of the entire value chain.
