JOGMEC signed Memorandum of Understanding with Korea National Oil Corporation
Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) and Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 22, 2025, to deepen the cooperation in the fields of energy which includes Hydrogen, Ammonia and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
JOGMEC and KNOC have entered into a MoU to strengthen their comprehensive cooperation in the fields of hydrogen and CCS as well as oil and gas.
In recent years, both JOGMEC and KNOC have expanded their businesses into hydrogen and CCS. Since Japan and South Korea are expected to become significant demand countries in the emerging hydrogen economy, this cooperation aims to build supply chain of these new energy sources. Additionally, the newly signed MoU would allow both parties to collaborate on developing cross-border CO2 transport.
While JOGMEC and KNOC have primarily engaged in information and opinion exchanges within the oil stockpiling sector in the past, the new MoU marks a significant step forward in their evolving collaboration.
In light of the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea in 2025, JOGMEC looks forward to further enhancing its collaboration with KNOC, with the hope of contributing to the continued strengthening of bilateral relations.
