Signing IP for Human Resources Development Project in coal area
with Empresa Moçambicana de Exploração Mineira, SA, Mozambique

 Maputo, 30 July 2014 - Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (Mr. Hirobumi Kawano, the President of JOGMEC) and Empresa Moçambicana de Exploração Mineira, SA (Mr. Casimiro Francisco, the Chairman of EMEM) signed an Implementing Program (IP) on cooperation for human resources development in coal industry.
 Signing of the IP, JOGMEC starts this new human resources development project for Mozambican coal industry from 2014.
 Minister Edano, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in Japan and the Minister Bias , the Ministry of Mineral Resources (MIREM) in Mozambique executed “Memorandum of Cooperation for Natural Resources Development between the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and the Ministry of Mineral Resources of the Republic of Mozambique” in February 2012. METI and MIREM also signed a joint statement including a "Five-year plan for developing the coal industry in the Republic of Mozambique" in October the same year. In response to the plan aiming at training more than 100 coal development experts in 5 years, JOGMEC starts the project both in Japan and Mozambique from 2014. The implementation of the program is expected to contribute to improving the capability of coal technical experts in Mozambique and further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

Outline of the Project

 The Project is consists of two training programs; accepting the Mozambican trainees in Japan and dispatching the Japanese experts to Mozambique. These training courses will invite coal technical experts of MIREM, local government agencies, Mozambican Public Mining Company (Empresa Moçambicana de Exploração Mineira) and private sectors in Mozambique and provide lectures and some field trips visiting coal mining sites, aiming to further improve their technics.
 The training plan for FY2014 is as follows:

Accepting Trainees in Japan

Schedule From late September to mid October 2014 (for three weeks)
Location The Technology Research Center of JOGMEC (Mihama-ku, Chiba prefecture) and so forth
Number of Trainees About five people

Dispatching Experts to Mozambique

Schedule From late November to mid December 2014 (for three weeks)
Location Maputo and Tete
Number of Trainees About fifteen people
