JOGMEC signed two agreements on technical cooperation and geological survey in Uzbekistan
On January 26, 2015, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for technical cooperation related to oil and gas area with National Holding Company “Uzbekneftegaz” (Uzbekneftegaz), and a Protocol of Intentions (POI) related to geological survey with the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources (Goscomgeology). These agreements were signed, taking advantage of the opportunity of Mr. Rustam Sadykovich Azimov’s, First Vice-Premier of Uzbekistan, visit to Japan.
The MOU, signed by Mr. Shokir Fayzullaev, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz, and Mr. Hirobumi Kawano, the President of JOGMEC, covers technical cooperation for joint geological studies and other technology in the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is abundant in natural gas resources. Based on the MOUs of April 28, 2007, and February 7, 2011, JOGMEC and Uzbekneftegaz have kept cooperation, such as conducting joint studies and human resources development.
The POI, signed by Mr. Ilkhombay Turamuratov, Acting Chairman of Goscomgeology, and Mr. Hirobumi Kawano, confirms the current cooperative relations in carrying out geological study of Uranium.
These agreements will further strengthen JOGMEC’s collaborative relationship with Uzbekistan.
