JOGMEC(Headquarter:Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Hirobumi Kawano)has signed a MOU(Memorandum of Understanding) with GNS Science International Limited(New Zealand, Chief Executive: Michael McWilliams), a crown research institute, for bilateral technical cooperation in the geothermal field.
Based on this MOU, JOGMEC will build out cooperative bilateral relations with GNS Science International Limited in order to facilitate bilateral technical cooperation in the field of evaluation and mitigation of environmental impacts, development of survey methodologies, improving methods for management and sustainability of geothermal reservoirs, promoting public acceptance of geothermal developments, and the like.
The MOU initiative stemmed from an agreement to promote geothermal during a meeting on Feb, 2015 between JOGMEC, the Bipartisan Parliamentary Committee for Geothermal Energy Promotion in Japan, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Japan Geothermal Association, and Minister of Energy and Resources of New Zealand.
JOGMEC hopes the MOU will enhance further cooperative bilateral relations between Japan and New Zealand.
