JOGMEC and H2Global signed modified Memorandum of Understanding to enhance the cooperation for realizing clean hydrogen society

Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) and H2Global Stiftung (H2Global) signed the modified Memorandum of Understanding to deepen the cooperation further.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in February 2024, JOGMEC and H2Global, a German entity established with the aim of supporting the craetion of a global clean hydrogen market by providing market-based instruments, have been sharing information on topics related to clean hydrogen, such as regulation, technology, and supply chains.

As the Hydrogen Society Promotion Act was enacted in May, 2024, JOGMEC is expected to serve as an implementing body for the Contract for Difference scheme for hydrogen projects. Reflecting this additional role of JOGMEC, JOGMEC and H2Global have agreed to deepen the area of cooperation, including discussions on methodology for project evaluation and project management as well as international standards and certificates.

The siginig of the revised MOU took place on the occasion of Japan-EU Hydrogen High-level Business Forum on June 3, 2024 with the presence of Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and European Commissioner for Energy. As Japan and the EU continue to advance cooperation towards the development of a hydrogen society, JOGMEC will aim to provide effective support for the stable supply of hydrogen and its derivatives based on the revised MOU.
