International Online Seminar “Carbon Neutral Geothermal” on the topic of the latest technical information about geothermal energy, CO2 and hydrogen held by JOGMEC and GNS Science

JOGMEC is pleased to announce that JOGMEC and GNS Science（GNS） held an International Online Seminar “Carbon Neutral Geothermal” on December 10th, 2021. The seminar was completed with great success, providing 203 attendees from 21 countries with the latest technical information about geothermal energy, CO2 and hydrogen.
The cooperation between JOGMEC and GNS dates back to 2015, when JOGMEC and GNS signed a MOU for bilateral technical cooperation on geothermal energy. Under the MOU, JOGMEC and GNS have been working together through training programs and workshops to promote exchanges of technology of geothermal development.
JOGMEC and GNS held an International Online Seminar “Carbon Neutral Geothermal” on December 10th, 2021 for the first time focusing on carbon neutral and geothermal energy, which have attracted much attention recent years. In the seminar, the latest trends of research and business were introduced both from Japan and from New Zealand to geothermal developers, geothermal researchers, government officials and so on. As a result, the total number of the attendees was 203 from 21 countries.
In the seminar, speakers from Japan（JOGMEC and Obayashi Corporation） and New Zealand（GNS） gave presentations on advancements in geothermal energy, CO2 and hydrogen followed by an active Q&A session. The post-questionnaire found the attendees’ strong interest in JOGMEC’s efforts to accelerate geothermal development and to realize carbon neutrality and high satisfaction with the seminar; many attendees said, “The presentations and discussion were very informative and interesting” or “The seminar was a great opportunity. Please continue this effort”.
JOGMEC continues to proactively collect and provide people all over the world with useful information such as the latest trend of technology of geothermal energy for further geothermal resource developments toward carbon neutrality.
