JOGMEC and PDVSA signed the extension of MOU

April 25, 2012

On April 24 in Tokyo, JOGMEC and PDVSA signed the extension of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the framework of cooperation, with the purpose of strengthening the relationship in the area of oil and gas development between the two governmental organizations. This extension of MOU was signed in the 4th committee meeting for Energy Cooperation between Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

JOGMEC and PDVSA have had activities under the MOU since April 2009 including a jointly study for potential projects in the Orinoco Oil Belt. JOGMEC and PDVSA agreed to extend the MOU for three years in order to keep the framework of cooperation.

It is expected that the extension of MOU will promote the E&P activities of Japanese companies in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and contribute to strengthen the relationship between the Japanese oil industry and Venezuela.
